Defrost fish is quite a delicate process. This type of meat tends to break down very quickly and, in addition, it’s texture is very soft. Avoiding risks of toxicity from eating fish requires taking into account the continuity of the cold chain, because altering it will proliferates bacteria. For the rest, a proper defrosting process will guarantee a good texture and flavor.

With the coming of the peak season for traditional squid processing and sales in the second half of the year, the market demand is strong. Since mid-September, the price of Gigas squid at Zhoushan Port has been rising all the way. Especially after the National Day, the price of medium and large squid has jumped. The average price increase has reached 500-600 CNY/ TON in just a few days, and there is a further upward trend, which has led to a new round of overall rise in the price of Gigas squid, and the bullish market has strengthened in the second half of the year.

The European Union formally confirmed on Monday that it will exclude Russian and Belarusian fishery products from the next version of its autonomous tariff quota (ATQ) scheme, which will come into force in January, including Russian-origin fish products processed in China. The proposals were first made in September and the current ATQ scheme expires on 31 December. The council unanimously set quotas for 2024, 2025 and 2026 for certain fish products on 27 November.
